Areas of Practice

Wills

A Will is a legal document in which you declare one or more persons to manage your estate and provide for the distribution of your property at death. The court will oversee the administration of your Estate according to your Will through Probate. Without a Will, the courts will decide how your estate is administered based on intestacy statutes.

Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney is a legal document in which you have appointed another person to act as your agent on your behalf, thus conferring authority to your agent to perform certain acts or functions on your behalf. Your Power of Attorney allows the agent to take care of a variety of transactions, such as executing a stock power, handling a tax audit, maintaining a safe deposit box, paying bills.

Trusts

Using trusts as part of an estate plan prevents the intervention of the courts and provides ease when transferring wealth. An estate plan incorporating trusts can provide for medicaid planning, charitable planning, and a tax effective transfer of wealth. There are a variety of trusts that can be utilized depending on your needs, such as Revocable Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts and Special Needs Trusts.

Health Care Documents

A Health Care Proxy is a legal document that allows you to name an individual you trust to make health care decisions on your behalf should you lose the ability to make and communicate your own decisions. A Living Will specifies the type of medical and personal care you would want in the event of disability.

Asset Protection Planning

Asset protection planning involves creating a plan in advance and making decisions today to protect yourself, your business, and assets. There are many changes in life that can cause you to lose your assets including loss due to lawsuits, nursing home care, divorce or family indiscretions, giving away assets to your children incorrectly, and potential creditors. A personalized estate plan will ensure your assets are protected.
